When I was 7 months pregnant with their first grandchild my parents bought a "project" a mile from our house but 700 miles from theirs. This blog chronicles the beginnings of their renovation and of the beginnings of our adventure into parenthood.

One year stats
Harlow is 22 lbs 15 oz and 30 inches tall at her one year check up. 75% for both. I thought for sure she would be a little heavier than tall with that (adorable) belly of hers but alas, she is perfectly proportioned.

12 MONTHS!
Today is my sweet girl's birthday and I am so happy I took the day off to spend it with her. This month Harlow started saying "dada". She can give (big sloppy) kisses and wave. She seems to have NO interest in walking still but that's ok. She has six teeth and just enough hair for this little pony

One year really does go by fast! These photos were taken today. In a future post I want to put a collage of all 12 months. Also, a couple weeks ago I took some "one year" photos outside (but with her chair of course) and I'd like to post those too. But for now...I am too busy getting ready for Harlow's bunny birthday brunch!

almost one year old
And if the last post didn't give you your Harlow fix (mom), here is one of us eating breakfast in the kitchen with pajamas.
bedroom redo
Ok, this is not my parent's house in NC which is supposed to be the renovation subject of this blog. This is MY house in NC. I wanted to share how much of a difference some paint can make! When we first moved in, Mark was off bike racing and I was bored and painted the WHOLE room, including 5 doors, brown. Seriously the darkest brown the paint store would give me in eggshell. Well, I've been dreaming of a fresh, LIGHT, new color for a WHILE. I have a little less time these days (plus the aforementioned 5 doors + 6 windows) so we hired it out. Then I added a new bedspread, some art I already had around the house and voila! It is so bright in there that we have still been sleeping in the guest room. Ok, that will just be until we get some blinds!

Bedspread: West Elm

11 months!
In one more month my BABY will be one! I think she changed a lot since her 10 month pics. She is looking more like a toddler and less like a baby. *sniff* She is still just pulling up but not standing or walking on her own yet. She is still pointing a lot to things. The funniest thing she does this month is her secret language she has mostly with Bugs (the cat) and sometimes with Burger (the dog). When she sees them she starts talking and it goes something like this: "gla gla glug glug glug". The other cute thing new this month is hugging dolls and stuffed animals. How does she know to do that? Probably daycare, they teach her everything, ha. See pic below for hugging example.
My parents were just here but working on the house has taken a back burner to playing with Harlow. My mom is the "grout nazi" I say, and will never let my dad finish the tile in the kitchen. So, the kitchen after pictures are NEVER coming!
Ok, on to the pictures...

Mirror Mirror
Another photo op idea via pinterest. The weather was supposed to be almost 70 in NC this weekend so I wanted Harlow to get the chance to wear this adorable Matilda Jane dress that has been hanging in her closet. She is getting so big these days and I am fairly sure by the time the weather gets nice, it won't fit her anymore. Well it was really wet outside so we moved the shoot indoors. I guess the weather didn't matter. Oh well. I couldn't decide if I liked B&W or color, so here are two collages.
Thanks to Harlow's future BFF, Wren, for the great hand me down dress!
