Sonic?

Mark said the other day that he thought Harlow resembled a hedgehog. What? My beautiful baby, a...hedgehog??? Well he was referring to Sonic, and I think hope he meant her hair...

sweet chunky baby

Harlow had her two month appointment today. She weighed in at 12 lbs 3 oz and is 23 inches long. She is almost as long as my brother was when he was BORN. That's crazy...9 weeks later. I am proud of my little chunker though, at two weeks she was 8 lbs 4 oz!

staycation

In an effort to enjoy my last two weeks of maternity leave aka my 10 week staycation(not that taking care of a newborn is easy, but it is a break from work nonetheless); I got a pedicure with Harlow in the Bjorn (she did great!)...

and downloaded season 2 of Downton Abbey.

Harlow's been going to sleep at 8pm and that is when she has her longest stretch of sleep so I probably SHOULD go to bed with her at 8, but I think that will be the perfect time to see what Lady Mary, Edith, and Sybil are up to!

visitors

So, if you live out of state and want visitors, all you have to do is have a baby! Of course these two have been here quite often:
Grandma + Sandy = Grandy:

Grandpa Legend:

Great Gramps made a trip:

Harlow's Grandma Dot and Grandpa Cal came and we went on Harlow's first hike:

Another Great Grandparent:

And of course there were these guys from michigan:

In addition to that, we've had: aunts and uncles Luke, Laura, Taylor, Sarah; other family; Anne, great aunts Susie, Sue, and Kate; cousins Conner, Madison, and Kenzie...and that's just the out of towners! It's been so fun to show her off and share her with family and friends these last 8 weeks.

Chutes and Ladders

When we first brought Harlow home from the hospital and all she did was sleep, eat, and poop, my husband asked: "soooo when can we play Chutes and Ladders." "Well honey" I laughed, "it's gonna be a few years." He was obviously joking, but it was very sweet and had me picturing 3 year old Harlow and her dad playing board games. I stored that in my memory and thought I would get him Chutes and Ladders for Father's Day...or his birthday if I couldn't wait that long for my GREAT gift idea.

Well, my parents who knew about this conversation, were cleaning out my grandma's condo. She passed away while I was pregnant and is Harlow's middle-name-sake. In her condo were some games that we would play at her place as kids including of course Chutes and Ladders. Next time they visited, they brought it to him, unknowingly stealing my gift idea! Anyways, it was very sweet and I'd rather have my grandmas version then a new store bought one anyway.

I bring this up because today is my amazing husband's birthday. He is busy with school all day so we had cake last night, which means I am home today eating ALL the leftover by myself. Don't judge, it's called the breastfeeding diet..i.e eat everything in sight because I am so hungry!
Happy Happy Birthday to Mark!!! Looking forward to many years and many board games ahead!

First Smile?

I had Harlow on the couch and was trying to capture her eyes (dark blue/grey just like her dad) as she was looking out the window. I managed to get these:

Later on, my camera was still near and she stared to smile. We HAVE thought she smiled at us a couple other times but weren't sure. You just never know about those gas smiles! I Don't think you can deny that this is a smile though.
First, serious baby:

Then she busted out the smiles:

Admittedly I realized that her pajamas were too small when she stretched out her legs. Good thing she has a whole drawer full of the next size up. Love hand-me-downs!

yard envy

My parent's house has a great yard for hanging out which we did a lot this weekend while the while family was visiting. Here are some pictures with the yard in the background. SO much nice grass!
BIG Bro and tiny baby:

Lil' Bro and Burger

This last picture features a Taylor Bro specialty cocktail. Here is the recipe, are you ready for this? It's complicated:
Mike's "Classic Margarita" wine cooler + Tequilla

It was a great weekend and glad the whole family could be together and see Harlow!
