When I was 7 months pregnant with their first grandchild my parents bought a "project" a mile from our house but 700 miles from theirs. This blog chronicles the beginnings of their renovation and of the beginnings of our adventure into parenthood.

painting and kitchen planning
Grandpa Legend was here this week to work on the house. He wanted to get some painting done and it proved to be a BIG job. We went to Home Depot (with Harlow in tow) to pick out a paint color and while we were there did some kitchen planning.
First, the paint color. My dad is going for a 'natural' materials look with different wood tones and such. So, to go with that theme we went with a color called "Gobi Desert" (Behr). It went well with the trim color my dad had already picked out "Navajo White". He was able to put up four gallons and covered the kitchen, dining room, living room and all the halls. There is still ALL the trim to go and the bedrooms. I am tired just thinking about it!
For the kitchen, we looked at cork floors and quartz counter tops. Here is what we came up with:

here it is with the kitchen cabinets (that are all in boxes in the basement). The wall color behind is pretty true to the new color.
I love spending my dad's $-)
